CRT Nominated for 4 SALT Awards

Cortland Repertory Theatre received four nominations from their 2007 summer season in the recently announced Syracuse Area Live Theatre (SALT) Awards. Hosted by the Syracuse New Times, the SALT Awards recognize outstanding achievement in Central New York theatre productions over the past year. This is the fourth year that the awards have included a category for summer theatres, which besides CRT also includes the Hangar Theatre, Merry Go Round Playhouse, Syracuse Shakespeare Festival and Summerstage New York.

In the category of Best Production of the Summer Season, CRT’s “Fiddler on the Roof” and the regional premiere of “The Great American Trailer Park Musical” both received nods. Other nominees included Hangar’s “Doubt” and “Hair” as well as Merry Go Round’s “Miss Saigon” and “Thoroughly Modern Millie”.

For Best Actor of the Summer Season, Claus Evans who portrayed Tevye the milkman in “Fiddler” received a nomination. Other nominees in this category include Drew Battles in Hangar’s “Doubt”, as well as Tony Perry in “Ain’t Misbehavin’” and James Van Treuren in “Peter Pan” both at Merry Go Round.

In the Best Summer Actress category, Amy Halldin who played Pippi the stripper in “The Great American Trailer Park Musical” received a nomination, along with Kimberly Burns from “Thoroughly Modern Millie”, Amy Griffin from “Peter Pan” and Vonetta Mixson from “Ain’t Misbehavin’” all at Merry Go Round, and Piper Goodeve from “Hair” at Hangar.
