Cortland Repertory Theatre Announces Auditions for 2008 Summer Season
Cortland Repertory Theatre will hold auditions, by appointment, for its upcoming 37th annual summer season. Auditions will be held on Saturday, March 29 from 10:00 - 5:00 at Homer High School, 80 South West Street (Route 281), Exit 13 off Route 81 in Homer. Productions include:
• “8-Track: Sounds of the ‘70’s”: a revue of 1970s music;
• “Leading Ladies” a new comedy/farce by Ken Ludwig;
• Agatha Christie’s mystery “The Mousetrap”;
• The musical comedy “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas”;
• “A Few Good Men”, the military courtroom drama by Aaron Sorkin;
• “Johnny Guitar” a new musical comedy send-up based on the Joan Crawford classic western.
All roles open and are available for adults (high school seniors and older). Sorry, there are no roles for children in this year’s season. Paid performing internships available for college students. Particularly seeking young in-shape men to play football players/cowboys in “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” and Marines in “A Few Good Men”. If cast, actors must be available for day-time rehearsals in Cortland. Season runs from May 20 - Aug 30.
• Primarily seeking non-union actors.
• Please bring a current photo and theatrical resume.
• Prepare one 1 - 2 minute monologue to be considered for the plays. Note that a British dialect is required for “The Mousetrap”.
• Prepare 16 measures of an uptempo and/or ballad to be considered for the musicals.
• Bring your own sheet music. Pianist will be provided.
• Auditionees may be asked to read from provided scripts, and may be asked to learn a short dance/movement routine.
