Winners for "The Pavilion Awards"

The winners for the fifth annual Cortland Repertory Theatre “Pavilion Awards” were announced on Sunday, June 3, at the National Historic Little York Pavilion, home to CRT. The awards recognize outstanding achievement in local high school theatre during the 2006-07 school year.

Trophies were presented to the winners in a ceremony hosted by Producing Artistic Director Kerby Thompson and Assistant Director Jim Bumgardner. Presenters included members of CRT’s Performing Intern program ­ Ephie Aadema, Liam Cronin, Nicholas Palazzo, Catherine Stephani, Greg Trimmer and Lindsay Zaroogian.

The cast of CRT’s first production Almost Heaven: Songs of John Denver also presented the Best Ensemble awards, and performed two musical numbers from the show which opens on Wednesday, June 6. Daniel Hess, the director and choreographer of the musical revue, presented the “Theatre as Education” award. Each of the six nominated high schools that produced musicals - Cortland, Dryden, Groton, Homer, McGraw and Tully - performed a musical number from their production.

Best Musical: Fiddler on the Roof (Tully)
Best Play: The Curious Savage (Cortland)

Musical Ensemble: The Music Man (Homer)
Play Ensemble: (tie) The Curious Savage (Cortland) and Ladies, Sigh No More (Dryden)

Lead Actor in a Musical: Patrick Leach (McGraw)
Lead Actor in a Play: Joseph Ralbovsky (Tully)
Lead Actress in a Musical: Mackenzie Adriance (Dryden)
Lead Actress in a Play: Emily Hopkins (Homer)

Supporting Actor in a Musical: Ryan McHugh (Dryden)
Supporting Actor in a Play: Jeffrey Kerr (Tully)
Supporting Actress in a Musical: (tie) Lizz Hudler (Dryden) and Shelby Warmbrodt (Groton)
Supporting Actress in a Play: (tie) Danica Ostrander (Cortland) and Chelsea Gordon (Dryden)

Featured Actor in a Musical:(tie) Steven Good (Groton), Alan Smith and Ethan Phelps (McGraw)
Featured Actor in a Play: Kyle Tomlinson (Cortland)
Featured Actress in a Musical: Sandra Quints (Groton)
Featured Actress in a Play: Aisling Halpin (Cortland)

Student Written One-Act Play: “Don’t Download Movies, Please” by Per-Gulbrand Braathen
